Terms of Service
Last updated: September 2026
1. The service
AlpineConsent provides a cookie consent banner (delivered as a JavaScript snippet or a WordPress plugin), a public cookie/tracker scanner, and an account dashboard for managing sites and scan results. Some features (deep scanning, automated scheduled scans, higher site limits) require a paid plan — see Pricing.
2. Accounts
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity under your account. You must provide a real, working email address — it's how we reach you about your account and any scans you request.
3. Acceptable use
The scanner exists to inspect websites you own or are authorized to test — don't use it to probe a site without permission. Don't attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer beyond what applicable law allows, or resell access to the service without our written agreement.
4. Plans and billing
Honestly, as of this writing: plan selection is currently self-serve and no real payment is processed — the pricing page and dashboard reflect what each plan is meant to include, but billing integration is still being built. This section will be updated the moment real payment processing goes live, with clear terms on billing cycles, upgrades/downgrades, and refunds at that time.
5. Your data, and data you submit for scanning
See our Privacy Policy for what we collect and why. If you use the widget or plugin on your own site, you remain the data controller for your own visitors — we act as a processor for the consent choices our widget/plugin records on your behalf.
6. Availability
AlpineConsent is an early-stage product under active development. We aim for reliable uptime but don't currently offer a formal SLA or uptime guarantee. We'll be transparent about this changing once the product and business are more mature.
7. Intellectual property
The AlpineConsent name, branding, and the code we write remain our property. Content you submit (site names, custom banner text) remains yours — we only use it to operate the service for you.
8. Termination
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, with notice where practical.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. AlpineConsent isn't liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing here limits liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by Austrian law. The courts of Vienna, Austria have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection venue rules that apply regardless of this clause.
11. Changes to these terms
We'll update the “Last updated” date above whenever these terms change materially.
